A teenager was beaten up on a busy Teesside road as he walked home from school.

Jamie Madden was left with two black eyes after been attacked on Billingham's Marsh House Avenue on Monday afternoon.

The 14-year-old was set upon by two teenagers at 4.25pm at the corner of Rochester Road. He was punched in the front and back of the head before being thrown to the ground where one of the youths sat on him and hit his head while the other kicked him.

Jamie, a Northfield School pupil, could be off school until Monday due to swelling to his face.

His mother Beverly says her son was attacked for no reason and that no passers by came to his aid.

She said: "Jamie can be a bit of a lad with his friends, but is very quiet on his own.

"They never asked for money or took his mobile phone so I don't know why they did it. …
