The company now owns 14 holiday parks in Scotland, Wales and the South-West, and has a multi-million pound war chest for further expansion.

During 2003, Parkdean invested more than pounds 13m in two new Cornwall parks. Now nine of the company's parks are in the South-West, four in Scotland, and one is in south Wales, and between them they offer 6,456 pitches.

Each park provides self-catering accommodation combined with a range of leisure, entertainment and retailing facilities for holidaymakers and caravan owners.

Based in Heaton, Newcastle, for many years, Parkdean has recently relocated to Gosforth offices more than twice the size of its previous base.

There are now 72 Newcastle-based staff, out of 890 nationwide.

Listed on the AIM index of the Stock Exchange, Parkdean is a great example of a North-East company being the best in its field.

It has expanded rapidly in recent years, buying ever more holiday parks to capitalise on its growing position in the market place. …
