Amir Moussavi Pour is operations manager at one of the region's busiest dive centres, Aquanorth at Heaton.

As well as offering courses for beginners, Aquanorth helps divers make a career out of the sport they love.

Amir is 45 and lives in Newcastle with his partner Belinda, seven-year-old son Raz and Persian cat Larry.

6.30am: Start the day with some exercise - usually a quick jog but if the weather is bad I'll do some sit-ups and stretches at home. It's great to have some time to myself before I wake my son Raz to get him ready for school.

8.15am: Take Raz to school and then battle through the rush hour traffic to get across town to Heaton.

9.05am: Arrive at work and take 20 minutes to catch up on e-mails and check the previous night's paperwork. When everything is in order I open the centre at 9.30am.

10am: Morning dive at Whitley Bay. The recent good weather has made the conditions perfect, with the water at about nine degrees and visibility has been up to ten metres in places. …
