FUNERAL FOR BRANTLEY SCHEDULED FOR TODAY

Funeral for former Florida Senate President Lew Brantley will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 256 E. Church St. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery will be private.

Mr. Brantley, who also served as the top Shriner in North America and was a leading layman in the Episcopal Church, died of lung cancer Tuesday at his home. He was 66.

His legislative career spanned from 1966, when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, to 1979, when he resigned as Senate president to run unsuccessfully for mayor of Jacksonville.

FREE TAGS DESIGNATE ADULT WATER WATCHERS

Wolfson Children's Hospital and SAFE KIDS Northeast Florida will distribute free "water watcher" necklace tags at local YMCAs and pool retailers.

The tags designate an adult who will spend a specific period during which his only responsibility will be to carefully watch all children in or near the water.

YMCAs distributing the tags include Julington Creek, DuPont Family YMCA, Williams Family YMCA-Mandarin, Winston Family YMCA-Ponte Vedra, Yates Family YMCA-Riverside, Arlington YMCA and Johnson Family YMCA-Northside. …
