The runs flowed at Ashington, particularly from Scott Kay, as Tynedale won the match of the day to open up a lead at the top of the Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League.

Kay struck four sixes and 13 boundaries in 143, sharing a second wicket partnership of 180 with Stuart Graham (88 not out).

The 50 overs produced 285-2 and although there were 60 plus scores from David Rutherford and Greg Williams, Ashington were well short when the innings closed after 45.3 overs with 226.

Champions Lanchester had plenty in hand of Shotley Bridge and are second to Tynedale. Naheem Feroz top-performed with 55 out of Lanchester's 189-8 and replying, Shotley never threatened although a late 34 by Ian Archbold took the score into three figures.

McClaren, with an unbeaten 21, Tony Claughan (24) and Harry Hubber (25) led Sacriston to a six-wicket victory in 24.3 overs.

David Richardson hit four sixes and seven fours carrying his bat for 68 and Phil Hutchinson added a useful 36 with one six and five boundaries. In the Whickham innings, Bilal Rana and Masood Mirza shared seven wickets.

Benwell and Walbottle celebrated their first victory even though they had four runs to spare at Lintz. Graham Dakers with 76 and Brown (58) led the visitors to 194-5 before Lintz responded with 190 all out which included scores of at least 30 by Stuart Clennell and Anthony Ward. Aldo Van den berg was Annfield Plain's match winner at Swalwell where he carried his bat for 113 after earlier claiming three wickets. …
