The Rotary Club of San Jose awarded more than $20,000 to local and international charities recently following a series of fund-raisers that included an auction and golf tournament.

Club Jim Culp presented checks to charities at the annual "Night of Giving" May 12 at the San Jose Country Club, including the I.M. Sulzbacher Center, The Clarke School for hearing-impaired students, Pine Castle school and the UCOM Food Bank. The club also contributed diagnostic equipment to a clinic in Calicut, India, and to a Rotary International Foundation program trying to eradicate polio. The Rotary Club of San Jose was chartered in 2003 and has 38 members.
