A man accused of child porn offences told his girlfriend that he loved her on a video recording before he killed himself.

Graham Foti, 42, was discovered by his girlfriend Joanne Tonkin in a car in the garage of his home in Saltwells Road, Middlesbrough.

An inquest on Teesside yesterday heard that he died in November last year of carbon monoxide poisoning after he attached a pipe from the exhaust into the car.

Mr Foti made the video for Joanne, who he nicknamed "Charlie".

In it, the inquest heard, Mr Foti, an unemployed long distance lorry driver, was sat on a sofa and was addressing his girlfriend.

He said he was concerned about the way his life had gone, he had bricks thrown at his house and was under a great deal of stress.

Mr Foti had been due to appear before Teesside Magistrates' Court to face 16 charges of making indecent photographs of children.

He had also been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of cancer and had been further affected by the loss of Joanne's mother to ovarian cancer in September 2003. …
