Those looking for memorable ways to spend Memorial Day weekend have a variety of options in Clay County.

In Green Cove Springs, there's a performance by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and a riverfront festival. Both will have fireworks displays. Here's a list of some events:

-- Fleet Reserve Association Branch and Unit 126 will host its annual service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park. The guest speaker is Richard Trimmer, who is command master chief for the Adm. Annette Brown, U.S. Navy commander, Navy Region Southeast.

A bell will ring for each military person who died in the last year, said Frederick Petersen, a branch member.

"It's quite impressive," he said.

-- The Concert on the Green will be 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club in Green Cove Springs.

Admission is $15 for adults and $8 for children age 6 to 18. Children 5 and under get in free. The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will perform a pop music concert with songs from from Johann Sebastian Bach to the Beatles. It will end with Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture with cannons and a spectacular fireworks display. There will be skydivers and food vendors. The Art Guild of Orange Park will have art on display. Pre-concert entertainers will include the Orange Park Chorale, Boril Ivanov Ensemble and International Peace Performers.

-- RiverFest, Green Cove Springs' annual Memorial Day celebration, begins at 8 a.m. Monday with a 5K and 1-mile fun run through the residential area between the St. Johns River and U.S. 17. Opening ceremonies are at 10 a.m., a special veterans recognition is at noon, with musical entertainment and activities from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fireworks are at 9 p.m. at Spring Park, west of U.S. 17, behind City Hall. -- The Florida National Guard at Camp Blanding will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the Museum and Memorial Park. The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Thad Hill, commander of the 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment. …
