I can't help wondering at some people's mentality. On Wednesday afternoon June 2 at 3.15 I was in Hexham by the bus station. I saw something that upset me very much along with many others passing by. A gypsy-type caravan came through the main street, the horses going at quite a pace, and like everyone else my first thought was admiration for the horse and caravan. However, the sight that affected all of us was the medium-sized Brindle dog attached by a rope from its collar to the back of the caravan. This dog was limping and panting heavily as it ran having to keep up. We were all horrified at the thought of what would have happened if that dog had stumbled and been unable to regain its feet. It was also surely at risk of being hit by a car. It really upset all of us and if we'd known where it belonged or where these people were going we would certainly have notified the RSPCA. …
