CSX Transportation to address service concerns

CSX Transportation and the National Industrial Transportation League held a forum Thursday in Atlanta to address the service concerns of CSX's customers. Officials scheduled to attend included CSX Chairman and CEO Michael Ward; CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tony Ingram; CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Clarence Gooden; and John Ficker, president of the NIT League, which represents commercial shippers.

CSX continues to struggle with its performance. Morgan Stanley rail analyst Jim Valentine told Traffic World magazine last week that "there were no tangible signs of improving operating metrics at CSX."

Logistics management council picks officers

The First Coast Roundtable of the Council of Logistics Management has announced its officers for 2004-05, effective July 1. Easwaran Sundaram of PSS World Medical will be president; Terry Haber of TNT Logistics North America will be vice president and program chair; Alex Randall of Visual Solutions will be secretary; and Ann Middleton of Landstar Logistics will be treasurer.

The Roundtable is a non-profit group whose members are involved in logistics on the First Coast.

FHM Insurance operating under new management

FHM Insurance Co. Inc., a workers' compensation insurance company headquartered in Jacksonville, has changed its management. Jack Lemine has been promoted to the chief operating officer. This is a new management position for FHM. Lemine will not replace anyone directly but will assume some of the duties of Earl Thomas, a senior vice president who is retiring soon and will serve as a consultant for the company.

Lemine joined the company in 1990 and most recently worked as the chief financial officer. Lemine previously worked for Gulf Life Insurance Co.

Casa Marina Hotel names new general manager

The Casa Marina Hotel & Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach named Barry Allen as its new general manager.

Allen, who specializes in historic properties like the famous Historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colo., and the Historic Hotel Colorado.

He relocated to Jacksonville Beach and joined the Casa Marina Hotel team May 1, according to a news release. …
