A Teesside company is behind an innovative range of products including one to help prevent the deadly superbug MRSA.

Citrox, of Middlesbrough, is making groundbreaking advances in the food and health care industries and developing a worldwide client base.

Founded by Ian Ripley a former ICI development chemist, it has created a product range derived from citrus fruit extracts to replace toxic sanitisers such as Chlorophenols and Aldehydes used in food preparation.

Now Citrox says it is making advances within the health care sector having developed an application, which can be used as a spray or wipes as both a prevention and cure against MRSA.

The company adds it has the added benefits of being non-toxic and hypoallergenic.

Fighting the MSRA bug , some strains of which are resistant to almost all known antibiotics, costs the NHS an estimated pounds 1bn a year.

Its infection rate has soared by 600pc in the past decade, and experts fear it will double over the next six years. …
