Tynedale lead the NTSL Division A1 at the halfway stage of the season and they go into tomorrow's match at Leadgate aiming to keep up their unbeaten record.

The Hexham club have 171 points at the halfway mark, 14 points clear of second-placed Ashington.

And they have yet to lose a League game ( although chairman Terry Darling admits last weekend's heavy rain came to their aid.

Tynedale slipped to 39-6 against next-to-bottom Swalwell, with Stephen Humble taking 5-9, before the weather forced the game to be abandoned, preserving their unbeaten record.

Darling said: "We got out of jail last weekend with the weather.

"I don't know what it is about Stevie Humble when he bowls against us ( I think he took seven wickets against us last season and on Saturday he had five wickets in no time at all.

"But the rain came to save us although we still had two more batsmen to come and we might still have made Swalwell work for the win. At 39-6, though, you are virtually out of the equation."

Mid-table Leadgate are the opponents tomorrow ( weather permitting ( as Tynedale look to stay out in front. …
