Brandon, with a game in hand on the five sides above them, aim to be fourth from top after the weekend double programme.

"It would be a great couple of days if we manage to gain the maximum 40 points, and if we do we could be putting pressure on the third placed side," said secretary Ian Johnson.

"We are really looking forward to our two matches, neither of which will be easy since Willington and Tudhoe will certainly give us good games.

"But now that we are able to field a competitive side, I am confident we can enjoy a successful second half of the season."

Before the start of the campaign, Brandon's objective following the signing of Australian all-rounder Jim Allenby from Philadelphia was to end in the top half, but now they have their sights set on at least a top-four finish.

"Over the years we have been successfully developing the club and we are no longer pushovers. This is a competitive League and we are making steady progress," added Johnson, who says a full-strength team will be on duty on both days, with David Fort coming in for Jamie Robinson. …
