Furyk Is a Jolly Good Price for the Open

Euro 2004 is over but the great summer of sport continues throughout the week with British Open Golf, Copa America, the British Grand Prix, cricket's triangular series plus the start of the World 9-ball pool championship.

Golf's British Open tees off at Troon on Thursday with Tiger Woods slight favourite from Ernie Els, with US Masters hero Phil Mickelson next in line at around the 12-1 mark, but it could pay to go for a bit of value and that's where Jim Furyk comes into the reckoning at 50-1.

Woods hits too many poor drives these days to be considered, and while Els and Mickelson will both have their supporters, Furyk could be the one at 50-1.

Jolly Jim is terrific in the wind, which will be a major boost at Troon, and is also coming into the tournament fresh after a lay-off earlier on this campaign.

The Copa America continues throughout the next fortnight and a small bet on Mexico to draw with Argentina at around 9-4 looks the call on Sunday night. …
