AFTER a run-in with his fellow band members, wannabe rock star Dewey Finn (Black) is sacked. Faced with mounting debts and possible eviction for failure to pay the rent, Dewey decides to masquerade as his responsible roommate Ned Schneebly (White), who is due to teach the fifth grade at a nearby private school.

He quickly discovers a way to relate to the kids - music - and under the guise of a secret school project, Dewey enters his students in a battle of the bands contest.

When the school's by-the-book headmistress, Principal Mullins (Cusack), discovers Dewey's deception, all hell breaks loose. This is Dead Poet's Society with electric guitars and attitude - a rumbustious romp for the entire family with a central message about following your dreams.

Black bounds about, instilling the kids with his sense of wonder, joy and childish enthusiasm. Writer Mike White builds the tension, reaching a crescendo with the battle of the bands showcase that will have you laughing, cheering and crying.
