Durham slipped to second bottom of the Twenty20 Cup North Division table after a four-wicket defeat to Derbyshire at the Chester-le-Street Riverside last night.

Injury-hit Durham, who have no chance of progressing to the quarter-finals after their third defeat in four games, again failed to make a competitive total as they struggled to 117-9 off their 20 overs.

There were no sixes and only six fours in their innings, and Derbyshire eased home with nine balls to spare after Jon Moss made 33 and James Bryant 41.

They needed 25 off the last five overs, but Bryant drove Billingham's Mark Davies to long-on for four then pulled him for his fourth boundary as 11 came off the over.

Yorkshire, who are bottom of the North Division, must beat Lancashire at Headingley tonight and then Durham at the Riverside tomorrow to stand a chance of progressing.

There were also wins last night for Leics, Somerset, Hants and Kent.
