Funding to Rebuild Nursing Home

Investment of pounds 1.1m has been secured to rebuild a nursing home and help to create 20 jobs.

Specialist brokers Denton Woodhouse of Jesmond in Newcastle secured the funding from the Bank of Scotland for Wentworth Grange Care Home in Riding Mill, Northumberland.

The new purpose-built home will be built in the grounds of the existing care home.

Ron Lee, of Wentworth Grange Care Home, said: "The new Wentworth Grange Care Home facilities in the grounds of Underwood Hall will be a fantastic environment for our residents and staff who will all move in when it is complete.

"Although the new home will be extremely modern, it will still be the homely environment Wentworth Grange is renowned for, which is good news for existing occupants."

A change in Government guidelines meant the original Edwardian building would have needed extensive modifications.

It will be used as the private residence of the home owners when the new centre is complete next year. …
