New Appeals System to Have Huge Benefits

The Planning Inspectorate introduced a new on-line pilot planning appeal service ( the Planning Casework Service ( at the beginning of this month.

The new service enables planning appeals to be made, handled and tracked on-line from the comfort of the office or home.

The introduction of this service follows a live trial over the winter of 2003-04 for general planning and enforcement appeals.

Lessons learn- ed from the trial and the feedback provided from users have enabled improvements to be made to the service before the new pilot began.

It offers users of the appeal system huge benefits in that users can engage more fully with the Planning Inspectorate.

People will not only be able to submit the initial appeal via the internet but they can also see appeals made by other people locally and nationally, see papers and any accompanying plans, make comments on the appeals, track the progress of the appeal and view the final decision. The pilot service is only available for access restriction appeals at the moment. …
