Teesside's top junior swimmers are out to make a splash at the National Age Group and Youth Championships.

Competitors from Borough of Stockton and Middlesbrough ASC are taking part in both events, which begin tomorrow.

And each club is full of confidence, with potential finalists, medalists and champions featuring throughout their squads.

Stockton coach Gordon Bruce feels that podium places are a realistic target for the team at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

He said: "Jessica Dickons was a gold medallist last year and is swimming very well this year.

"She should be in with a good shout of getting a medal.

"And Jemma Lowe is on form after taking a butterfly bronze medal at the recent open age group championships, while our other entrants all look good.

"Things are going really well for the club at the moment and we are keen to continue our success."

Middlesbrough spokesman Ken Campling is also hoping for medals - perhaps even titles. …
