Pal Is Ever Ready to Help Others

As the search continues to find the winner of our annual Good Neighbour competition, Bob Dawson is the latest deserving person to be put forward.

He's been nominated for our award, which is sponsored by Home Housing, by pal Christopher Usher in recognition for all the help he gives to his friends and neighbours.

Despite being partially blind, Bob is determined not to let that stop him and the 57-year-old is always the first to lend a hand when anything needs to be done.

Christopher, of Avison Court, in Newcastle's West End, said: "I've known him since I moved here two years ago and it's hard to believe just how much he does.

"He's always popping round to do odd jobs for people like putting up shelves, laying floor boards and tuning TVs.

"He's also part of the Residents' Association so he's always keeping himself busy."

Bob, a retired gas board worker from nearby Beechburn Walk, was delighted when he found out he has been nominated but said he's only doing what anyone would. …
