Mum's the Word on Stacey's Job

Having your mum as your boss might not be everyone's idea of a perfect job but, for teenager Stacey Miller, deciding to follow in her mum's footsteps has proved to be a wise career move.

Stacey, from Whitley Bay, has taken her first steps on the career ladder with her appointment as new homes sales negotiator for leading property agent Chesterton, where her mother Jeanette Miller, is new homes manager.

Stacey initially joined the property agent as a Saturday assistant at the Grey Street branch after completing her GCSEs. So impressed were the Chesterton team with Stacey's ability, that when a full-time position arose for a new sales negotiator for new homes only weeks later, Stacey was the first choice for the job.

Stacey, 17, said: "After finishing my GCSEs I knew that I didn't want to continue into higher education. I'd had a strong interest in property and sales for a while, so decided to look for a job in that field.

"I was attracted to a career in new homes in particular because I had seen how much job satisfaction my mum got from her work, and luckily for me a position came up at Chesterton just at the right time. …
