AFTER DELAY, PORT SIGNS WAREHOUSE LEASE

Jacksonville Port Authority Executive Director Rick Ferrin Tuesday signed a 30-year lease with ICS Logistics Inc. allowing ICS to construct a $24 million, 553,000-square-foot warehouse at the authority's Talleyrand Marine Terminal.

The agreement had been on hold pending resolution of a dispute between the city of Jacksonville and TriLegacy Group LLC over the development of the $860 million Shipyards, the largest private investment real estate project in downtown history. Both ICS and TriLegacy are owned by the Spence family. City attorneys would not allow the ICS contract to be authorized without the Shipyards dispute being settled; the city and TriLegacy came to terms on the Shipyards Tuesday.

Ferrin's approval is conditional upon ICS securing construction financing; he said ICS should have that "in short order." He anticipates construction beginning in September. The warehouse is expected to create 45 to 60 immediate jobs.

EVERBANK QUARTERLY EARNINGS RISE 1.5%

EverBank Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $7 million, up 1.5 percent from the first quarter. The Jacksonville-based bank said total assets rose 12.6 percent in the quarter to $2.69 billion.

PENTAGON GIVES HALLIBURTON MORE TIME

HOUSTON -- The Pentagon backed off its threat not to pay a Halliburton Co. subsidiary for troop support work, instead giving the company more time to justify its bills to the Army, The Associated Press reported.

The decision late Tuesday was the latest in an ongoing exchange between the military and the oil services conglomerate once led by Vice President Dick Cheney.

"This is a very complicated issue and this exchange proves our point," Halliburton spokeswoman Wendy Hall said Wednesday in an e-mail message. "As we have said, we are in continued negotiations and working with the client to get this done right. …
