British Championship motorcycle racing is coming to the region for the second weekend in succession.

Last weekend Croft Circuit hosted the British Superbike Championship for the first time.

And this Sunday round seven of the British Supermoto Championship takes place at Karting North-east at Warden Law near Sunderland.

Several full factory teams and all the country's top supermoto riders will be in action.

Supermoto - basically rallycross for motorbikes - is one of the fastest growing forms of motorcycle sport.

Karting North-east's elevated spectator areas mean that all the action can be witnessed from one place.

The action starts at 10am with timed practice and qualifying sessions. Racing begins at 1pm.

Entry fee is pounds 10 for adults, pounds 5 for students and OAPs. Accompanied under 16s get in free.

BILLINGHAM tomorrow play a friendly against West Hartlepool, at Greenwood Road (3pm).


NORTON Hockey Club training has now restarted. Men's training is on Tuesdays from 7-9.30pm, and ladies' training on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm, starting on September 1.

Junior training for Under 13s will start on Sunday, September 5.

New members are welcome. All training will be held at Norton (Teesside) Sports Complex.


LEEMING FC Under 12s are seeking new players for their team to play in the Teesside Junior Alliance League for the coming season.
