Everyone knows the importance of hydrating your skin ( but there's more to it than just drinking two litres of water a day.

Like the rest of our body, our skin needs three essential elements: air to breathe, water to hydrate and nutrients to rejuvenate.

Hence, water is very important to your skin, as Thierry Oddos from Johnson & Johnson explains.

"Water contains lots of elements that are important in maintaining the composition of cells.

"The main ingredient in most skincare is water, especially in the base of the formulation. But this is mostly done with distilled water, which just hydrates and sits on the surface of the skin before evaporating during the day."

Using a product that is made of pure water would enhance the benefits, and there are some excellent new water-based products available that utilise the power of thermal and spring water.

Evian affinity

The Evian Affinity skincare range is made with Evian mineral water from the French Alps, and is naturally moisturising, oxygenating and balanced in minerals to keep your skin hydrated. It's also non-irritating and has been dermatologically tested.
