Article excerpt

May we remind all your readers that the two schools on the Wellfield site are 50 years old this autumn and we would like to celebrate this important milestone in the life of two schools, South Wellfield First and Wellfield Middle.

The original school opened in 1954 as South Wellfield County Primary and replaced the older Earsdon Village School. The names have changed over the years but the building remains much the same.

We would like to invite your readers to our 50-year celebrations on November 3, 2004, from 3.45pm to 7pm, when the two schools will be open for pupils and staff, past and present, to revisit their old classrooms and perhaps meet friends and acquaintances from their school days.

We also hope to be able to exhibit memorabilia and photographs from the past 50 years and to this end if anyone has any item which they are prepared to loan the school, please contact us on 0191 252 9486.

We look forward to seeing many past pupils and staff as possible on November 3. …
