South Tyneside Council has strengthened its team of senior officers with the appointment of a new head of Streetscape.

Terry Collins joins South Tyneside Council after leaving his position as assistant director, Environmental Services, at Darlington Borough Council.

Employed in local government for 26 years, Terry has previously worked at Eastleigh, Darlington, Redcar and Cleveland and Brighton and Hove Borough Councils.

Terry, 43, has received national acclaim for his work to improve the street environment, and in the last two years he is credited with transforming Darlington Council's Environmental Services section by improving service delivery, increasing satisfaction and generating savings.

His work has also been recognised nationally through the press when he featured on the BBC 1 programme Real Story talking about Darlington's improved street environment and the positive effect it had on people.
