Arsene Wenger believes Jose Reyes put in a positive showing when pushed up into the Arsenal attack in Europe in midweek.

The young Spaniard deputised for Dennis Bergkamp alongside Thierry Henry for Wednesday night's Champions League trip to Rosenborg which ended 1-1.

However, Reyes ( who has netted five goals for the Gunners in the Barclays Premiership already this season ( turned in an indifferent performance at the Lerkendal Stadium, where Arsenal took an early lead through Freddie Ljungberg before being pegged back by a determined home side.

Wenger could well move Reyes back to left midfield for tomorrow's visit of Charlton and re-instate Bergkamp in the starting XI.

He said: "Reyes had a positive second half after losing his confidence a bit during the first period when he lost control of the ball.

"I feel he will be a central player eventually but at the moment he feels more comfortable on the left. He has freedom to play on the wing. …
