A reinvented arts venue has been hailed a huge success - 12 months after it reopened in a blaze of controversy.

Stockton's Arc was re-established in September 2003 - almost two years after it folded due to financial difficulties.

Since then, the building has become a key venue for both professional and amateur performances, as well as various community projects and courses.

Big-name artists such as jazz singer Geno Washington, opera star Suzannah Clarke, and the Wildcats of Kilkenny are among those who have appeared over the past year.

A range of courses have also been hosted, many of which are now over-subscribed, as well as exhibitions showcasing the talents of local adults and children.

Anne Daley, marketing director at Arc, said they are pleased with the development of the building over the past year.
