British men are claiming back their place in the home, says a building company.

Bryant Homes has found that the male population does not have to seek salvation at the rugby club, down the gym or in the local bar any more ( instead men are claiming a room in the house as their own.

Alison Deakin, Bryant Homes North East and Yorkshire regional sales and marketing director, explains: "Our research tells us the discernible trend is for males to spend their downtime in a room of the house they deem their own ( with the study emerging as a firm favourite.

"Housebuilders such as Bryant Homes are increasingly introducing designs that accommodate this trend; homes with flexible rooms ( spaces that can be given a number of different identities depending on the homeowner's lifestyle needs.

"Whereas, traditionally, men have left the house to seek their own personal refuge, they can now have the space and privacy of a den or a snug, or maybe a home gym or music room. …
