PSS WORLD MEDICAL BUYS

ELDER CARE COMPANY

Jacksonville-based PSS World Medical said Monday that its elder care business, Gulf south Medical Supply, has acquired Associated Medical Products, an Indianapolis-based distributor of medical products and billing services to the elder care industry.

AMP generates about $48 million in annual revenue, PSS said in a news release. The company didn't disclose the terms of the deal.

RECRUITMAX SIGNS LEASE

FOR DEERWOOD PARK SPACE

Recruitmax, a Jacksonville-based human resources software company, has leased 40,000 square feet from a21, a company that provides digital stock art.

Recruitmax, which has gone through several rounds of expansion, will pay $3.5 million over six years for the 40,000 it is leasing. A21 recently sold the 73,000-square-foot Deerwood Park building for $7.5 million and is now leasing the space for 20 years.

A21 will provide about $200,000 in tenant improvements for Recruitmax and pay a brokerage fee of approximately $150,000. Recruitmax will pay a security deposit of about $60,000 and provide a letter of credit to the benefit of a21 for about $475,000.

STORM VICTIMS MAY SEEK MEDIATION IN DISPUTES

TALLAHASSEE -- Hurricane victims who disagree with their insurance company about how much repairs to their property will cost will be able to go to non-binding mediation under a program started by Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher, The Associated Press reported.

The process will be free to insurance customers, paid for by the industry, Gallagher said.

Gallagher signed an emergency rule that will set up mediation centers in hurricane-hit areas and require insurance companies to notify policyholders that they have the right to mediation.

If a policy holder requests mediation, the company will have 21 days to resolve the claim to the customer's satisfaction before a meeting will be scheduled. …
