A mother has launched a High Court bid to prevent doctors carrying out abortions on young girls without their parents' knowledge.

Sue Axon wants a judicial review of Government guidance which allows surgeons to terminate pregnancies without parental consent. Mrs Axon, 50, of Baguley, Manchester, who has two daughters, Jo, 15, and Amber, 12, had an abortion 20 years ago but later regretted it.

Murder charge

A MAN accused of murdering his terminally ill wife is appearing in court today. Brian Blackburn, 62, who called police to the house he shared with his wife Margaret, in Ash, Surrey, on Friday night, is due to appear before Guildford magistrates.
