Carl Robinson believes Sunderland will welcome back the Championship's best defender to play alongside the division's best goalkeeper against Rotherham on Monday.

Robinson was lavish in his praise of Mart Poom yesterday after seeing the Estonian international pull off a remarkable injury-time save from Danny Webber to ensure the Black Cats held on for a draw at Watford.

And the Welsh international claimed the return of Gary Breen from a three-match suspension against the Millers would merely strengthen one of the best rearguard units outside of the top flight.

"Mart was superb again at Watford," said Robinson, who remains an ever-present in the league for Sunderland this season. "He pulled off a fantastic save at the end when they caught us as we tried to break.

"There are some good keepers in the division but, in my opinion, there's not a better one.

"He's up there with the best. He's a big lad, he's a big presence and he's got everything. As long as he continues in the sort of form he's shown recently then we'll be happy."

But it is the return of Breen which Robinson feels will really benefit the side as they look to continue their good run of form.

While the former Wolves and Portsmouth midfielder has been impressed with 21-year-old's Neill Collins' contribution in deputising for the club captain, he still feels Breen can never be totally replaced because of the influence he carries in the dressing room.

He explained: "We've missed him because he's a quality player. He's our captain, he's our leader. We've picked up two draws and a win, but Gary Breen is a quality international footballer.

"Any team in this division would want him and any team in this division would miss him ( we're no different.

"The young lad Neill Collins has come in and he's done superbly and let's not forget that. …
