Dixon Offering Free Lessons for Juniors

Tyneside have appointed their new professional in succession to long-serving Mack Gunn, who recently retired, and it sees a return to his roots for Geoff Dixon.

The 41-year-old, who has had vast experience in Scandinavia, Ireland and at De Vere's flagship course The Belfry, is from Westerhope and he's happy to be back in the region.

Dixon has been given the brief at Tyneside of implementing the club's academy and coaching plans and given his background, it looks as if they have got the right man.

Dixon turned pro in his early 20s and spent 10 years teaching in Norway and Scandinavia. He's also been national coach to the Ireland side, based in Dublin, and has worked for the PGA during his spell at The Belfry running coaching seminars and schemes in South America and Europe.

Holding a Masters degree in Sports Management, Dixon has a background in sports science and is into the area of sports psychology, fitness and diet ( essential parts of the game these days for those who are aiming to get to the top. …
