Police Briefs; 4 Men Charged in Burglary of Home under Construction

Four men -- two 19, two 18 -- were arrested at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of West Second Street and charged with burglary.

A 29-year-old homeowner told police his home in the 2100 block of Mills Road had been burglarized. The owner said he was having construction work done at the home and that the contractor he hired noticed the front door had been kicked in, the house ransacked and numerous items taken.

The contractor told police he grew suspicious of a pickup truck parked nearby and took down the tag number.

Police said they located the pickup truck occupied by the four suspects. A check of the truck revealed numerous items reported stolen from the house, including a handgun, jewelry and credit cards belonging to the victim. Police said there was also an AK-47 assault rifle in the back seat.

The victim identified numerous other items in the truck as his as well, according to a police report. …
