It has been another good week all round but, as the first fingers of winter creep in, the fish are shoaling together and slowing down.

Cleveland Angling Centre of Thornaby are not going to be bossed about this year and have set their stall out from the off.

A brilliant team effort saw the squad end up in second place on the day, but they remain on top of the league overall at the halfway stage with just seven penalty points.

Surprise second with 11 points are Billingham Tackle Box, but with some really good anglers in the team they could be pushing for their first ever semi-final, while in joint third are Big Waters and Shimano Quaker MG on 13 points.

Second-placed team-mate Ray Pierce fished his socks off for an all-chub net of 10lb 13oz, while M Chapman (Shildon) took third with 10lb 12oz.

The 26-peg match at The Oaks on Thursday fished brilliantly and Steve Rotheray (Daylight Baits) added yet another win to his already growing CV. …
