Celebrations as Dobbin Completes the Double

Tony Dobbin, who rides the fancied Monkerhostin in Saturday's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, celebrated his big race booking by completing a double for Greystoke trainer Nicky Richards at Kelso yesterday.

With Richard Johnson sidelined with a pelvic injury, Philip Hobbs has chosen the Cumbria-based jockey as his replacement on the ante-post favourite.

Dobbin's first success came on Rising Generation who put up a game performance under top weight in the Dixon Heaney Handicap Hurdle and the seven-year-old hasn't looked back since landing a seller at Perth in August.

Rising Generation got away quickly from the final hurdle and, though Totally Scottish came with his usual late flourish down the stands' side, he didn't have the same resolution as the winner who was confirming recent Carlisle form with his rival.

Monte Rosa, who divided two subsequent winners on her only start in a Market Rasen bumper last season, made a winning debut over timber under Dobbin in the second division of the Lion Roars Inside Me Scotdisc Novices' Hurdle. …
