In the latest in our series profiling the senior management team of regional companies, we look at SURGO Construction. The Newcastle-based firm is one of largest indigenous construction companies in the region, employing a direct workforce of more than 200 people.

Mr Walker joined the company in 1998 as a trainee quantity surveyor. The 26-year-old graduated in 2001 and was appointed as managing quantity surveyor in 2002. His role is to oversee quantity surveying on all projects.

Mr Walker joined the firm in 1984 as chief quantity surveyor. The 55-year-old took over as managing director earlier this year.

Mr Walker was instrumental in the successful management buy-out in 2002. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB).

Mr Wright joined the firm in 1983. The 37-year-old is a fellow of both the CIOB and the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce. In his present role as managing surveyor, he is responsible for the financial and contractual aspects of all building. …
