Believe it or not, but Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer was put up for sale recently ( on internet auction website e-bay.

A disgruntled Toon fan mischievously asked for offers for the 25-year-old after the player's alleged spat with then manager Sir Bobby Robson.

Someone, apparently, was daft enough to offer pounds 10m. No confirmation, though, as to whether his first name was Roman and his second Abramovich.

Dyer, of course, is not officially for sale (well, not until January at least) but this week under-fire Southampton boss Steve Wigley followed in Kieron's footsteps by getting the e-bay treatment.

The unflattering sales pitch for him read: "Comes in used but fairly decent condition, just no management, man-management, motivation or technical prowess." Ouch!

So far Mr Wigley has attracted 50 bids between a penny (sounds about right) and pounds 10m ( wonder if the following would be equally as attractive if advertised like this:
