Cooper Rues the One That Got Away

Pool crashed to their ninth away defeat of the season in League One last night ( despite taking the lead.

Adam Boyd put Pool in front in the 33rd minute with a deflected shot but the hosts staged an impressive second half comeback.

Walsall substitute Matty Fryatt equalised six minutes after the break before Jorge Leitao scored the winner in the 69th minute.

"I can't believe it," said Pool boss Neale Cooper. "We played a lot of good stuff in the first half so I am really disappointed.

"We were a bit naive and we have to be stronger at the back. We gifted them goals and got punished again."

The visitors dominated the first half with Antony Sweeney and Joel Porter both firing in early efforts which went just wide.

Ian Roper had to make a last-ditch tackle to deny Porter and the Saddlers' goalkeeper Joe Murphy got down well to save from Richie Humphreys.

Hartlepool dominated and deserved to take the lead in the 33rd minute.

Porter showed good awareness to back-heel the ball to Boyd, whose shot deflected off Mark Wright for his seventh league goal of the season. …
