An angry taxi driver has demanded justice after a man smashed his car window and then refused to pay any money in compensation, despite the ruling of a Teesside court.

Ian Ellis, 39, from Hardwick, Stockton, has grown increasingly frustrated after his car was damaged by a man in April this year.

He picked up a man and woman on Bishopton Lane in Stockton and drove them to Dundas Street where the couple argued.

Mr Ellis was forced to drive away and call the police after the man became aggressive and smashed the taxi's front passenger window.

Police later caught the man and he was charged at Teesside Magistrates Court in June with criminal damage and ordered to pay Mr Ellis pounds 103.

But the man has so far refused to pay.

Mr Ellis has now slammed the courts, claiming nothing has been done to enforce the charge.

"The courts are not helping the victims but they seem to be there for the criminals," he said. …
