Jubilee Lakes re-opened with a real bang on Boxing Day with four cracking doubles being brought to the net.

Keith Mortimer from Cramlington, fishing a Damsel, had a fish of 14lb 9oz; Jamie Stewart of Ovington, fishing a Bloodworm, had fish of 11lb 9oz and 10lb 10oz; and Ian Robinson of Newcastle, also fishing a Damsel, had one of 10lb 8oz.

The fishery will now be closed tomorrow but it will open again on Sunday and Monday before closing completely ( both fishery and tackle shop ( until later in the month, January 29.

Bookings are being taken for the re-opening weekend although there will be an answerphone service on (01388) 7772611 for anyone wanting to make an advanced booking while the fishery is closed.

There was a Christmas Day feast for Steve Sanderson of Cramlington who netted fish up to 50lbs at Sharpley.

Steve, fishing a Bloodworm, took the best fish of Christmas Day ( a cracker of 16lb from the Doxford ( which was then safely returned to the water. …
