A delivery man from a Chinese restaurant lost the food, but nothing else late Monday when he was jumped by three people outside an apartment at 4901 Sunbeam Road.

Police said the victim pulled into the complex at 9:40 p.m. and was met at the base of some stairs by a man in a knit cap and brown jacket who said he would have to go upstairs and get the money from his mother. But just as he said that, two other men jumped the victim from behind, joined by the first as he tried to back away into the parking lot.

One of the three attackers pulled out a piece of pipe as the other two grabbed the food. Then the victim yelled and all three ran. Officers recovered the pipe but found no one in the apartment where the food was supposedly ordered earlier.
