Sunderland Tomahawks gained a well-deserved 5-5 draw from their Under-19 North One encounter with Nottingham Leopards at Newcastle Arena.

Tomahawks trailed 5-1 going into the final period, Callum Hewitt having provided their lone strike at 31.09.

However, in eight minutes from the 45-minute mark, Dean Holland, Daniel Lathan, Michael Allinson and Pete Traynor brought the scores level.

The post and several saves from Nottingham's netminder then denied Tomahawks what would have been victory.

TOMAHAWKS' SCORERS: Dean Holland 1+2, Pete Traynor, Callum Hewitt and Daniel Lathan 1+1, Michael Allinson +0, Danny Lamb, Shane Hewitt and John Wilson 0+1.

Sunderland Arrows completed an Under-16 North One double over neighbours Billingham Bears after a 9-0 win.

Mark Robson put Arrows 2-0 ahead with a brace inside seven minutes and Karl Nelson added a third at 10.14.

Grant Sharp, Nelson and Robson, with his hat-trick marker, doubled the lead to 6-0 after 33 minutes.

In the final stages Sharp and a Danny Lamb brace completed the scoring.

The previous day, the Arrows had hosted Nottingham Cougars and went down 6-1.

Cougars held a 2-0 first-period lead and had gone 4-0 ahead before Robson pulled a goal back for Arrows at 25.54. Cougars scored a further two in the final period.

Sunderland Commanches were 6-1 victors over Billingham Falcons in the English Under-14 North One.

Ashleigh Holland opened the scoring in the second minute, Grant Sharp and Callum Davies then netting twice in the second for a 3-0 lead.

Jack Watkins and Matthew Williamson put Commanches 5-0 ahead before Jonathan Galloway struck Falcons' consolation. …
