IN PREPARATION for London Fashion Week (13-17 February), sign up to the Fashion And The City course run by Christie's Education (Wednesdays, 7pm, from 26 January-16 March). The course will look at how London and other cities have developed their own unique style identities through an amalgam of cultural, creative, political and economic factors.

Course directors Rachel Elwes and Melanie Rickey will show how these influences come together and identify the protagonist designers, artists and muses. Participants will look at key designers and groundbreaking fashion with each week of the course. In addition to the lectures, there will be opportunities to handle and study costumes, including designs from Madeleine Vionnet, Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano.
