A serial child molester is back behind bars after prowling a Metro interchange for new victims.

Leslie Elliott already has an "appalling" catalogue of convictions dating back to the 1950s and was banned from contacting children under a sex offender order.

But the 63-year-old was drawn again to target youngsters.

He hid what was happening from those running a voluntary support group for sex offenders. And he began to groom a 13-year-old boy for abuse after loitering at the Gateshead interchange to prey on potential victims.

Elliott, of Peareth Court, Gateshead, repeatedly hung around to meet the boy as many as 50 times when he knew he would be on his way to school.

He offered the boy and a 13-year-old girl with him sweets and money. And although he had not molested either youngster by the time he was arrested, he admitted what he was doing was sexually motivated, the court heard.

Elliott, who has lived in the same council flat for 44 years pleaded guilty to eight specimen breaches of the sex offender order. …
