Community chiefs are pulling together to boost safety on a Teesside estate where two takeaway owners were attacked by youths.

Councillors, police and community safety bosses will meet residents and traders in Stockton's Elm Tree area following the unprovoked attack.

Linon and Ailing Lee were assaulted by up to 15 youths who stormed into the Lucky Garden Chinese Takeaway.

Elm Tree Ward councillor Suzanne Fletcher is co-ordinating a meeting with shopkeepers, businesses, police and the anti-social behaviour team to combat growing problems with some youths in the area.

She said everyone was very upset about the attack, but added: "We need to look at a long-term solution rather than a knee-jerk reaction.

"I will be sending out emails to people in the ward requesting that anyone with information reports it to the police."

Some teenagers entered the shop on Friday evening. Mrs Lee, 41, said she served them quickly because they were cheeky and asked them to leave. …
