Article excerpt

Byline: BELINDA BUCKLEY

Where do you live and why?

Chelsea. I wanted to be within walking distance of the theatre during our four-month stay. It's close to a lot of neighbourhood restaurants and shops.

I only wish they'd change the Heathrow flight path.

How long have you lived there?

Since early December. I live in Manhattan, usually.

What is your earliest London memory?

Going to see a play at Her Majesty's Theatre in my twenties: it was The Importance of Being Earnest.

What advice would you give to a tourist?

Follow your nose. Don't just stick to the guide books - ask locals where the hot spots are.

What do you miss most when you're out of London?

The architecture.

What are your extravagances?

Buying gifts for my friends. What I buy depends on the friend, but I find that anything from Fortnum & Mason goes down well - lovely traditional London things.

What is your life philosophy?

Seize the day.

How do you get around town?

On foot. Or by taxi.

Do you have a favourite pub?

I really like The Ebury in Pimlico - it's quiet and the food is good.

Which fragrance do you wear?

Liz Claiborne's Spark Seduction.

What are your current projects?

Brian Clark's play Whose Life Is It Anyway?

directed by Peter Hall at the Comedy Theatre.

Walt Disney Pictures' Ice Princess, a romantic comedy about figure skating, due to be released in the States in March and here later in the year. Sexual Intelligence, a 90-minute documentary I am executiveproducing and hosting for Channel 4 and HBO this autumn. And I am a guest voice on The Simpsons as Marge's best old high-school friend.

What do you listen to on your iPod?

I got one for Christmas and I'm afraid it's still in the box. I haven't had time to figure it out yet.
