Robin Cook v Alan Milburn Ground: Old Queen Street Kick-off: 10am COOK may be out of the Cabinet, but he remains a potent force. So Labour bigwigs were thrown into a tizz by his Evening Standard article that criticises negative campaigning under Milburn, the election chief.

Cook was typically forensic, arguing that personalised campaigns deter voters and encourage apathy. But was there a hidden meaning? MPs note that Cook has appeared to be building bridges with Gordon Brown lately.

And Milburn, of course, is a hate figure in the Chancellor's camp. At Labour HQ in Old Queen Street, they suspect a bigger game is in play - and that Milburn just received a hit.
