Hunters Deserve Sympathy as Well

Article excerpt

In view of the sad news of the closure of Ellington Colliery, it was no surprise to see our MP for Blyth on his feet in the House of Commons supporting the cause of the workforce at Ellington and lending his support to miners' leader Mr Lavery's views that the mine is being closed despite an abundance of coal still to be mined in the area.

While I support and sympathise with the miners ( I grew up among miners, went to school with their sons and even went to war with some of them ( I have to question the actions of Mr Campbell when a few weeks ago, in the same chamber, he lent his support wholeheartedly to a bill which threatened the livelihood of thousands of innocent, law-abiding, tax-paying citizens in the hunt industry who had work for the foreseeable future ahead of them.

So much for New Labour and democracy.

Further details on the band can be found at

We're gagged and bound

THERE is only one thing wrong with this Blair government ( none of the ministers in high places has the guts to apply the laws which are already on the statute book in case they upset the army of clever-Dick legal representatives who are bleeding the country dry, and those of the politically correct brigade who are virtually gagging the decent citizens of this country. …
