PAUL IFILL will have an operation to cure his long-term ankle injury today, a procedure that will sideline him for a further three months.

The skillful midfielder has missed most of Millwall's season because of the problem and is holding on to the hope of making a comeback during the crucial run-in.

Millwall physio Gerry Docherty said: "He really has had a wretched season injury-wise but, hopefully, he will be back in time to play in the last few games."

Peter Sweeney and Graham Stack both have knee injuries and are also out of tomorrow's game against Queens Park Rangers at The Den.

Striker Mark McCammon has joined Brighton after a successful loan spell.

Meanwhile, QPR manager Ian Holloway wants to hang on to leading scorer Paul Furlong for another year.

Furlong, 36, has scored 14 goals this season but is out of contract in the summer.

"I would be mad not to keep him," Holloway said. "He has been absolutely phenomenal this season, the best I have ever seen him play. …
